During the pandemic, I had a chance to explore a new process of assemblage. In the same vein, my redirected materials came from FABMO.http://fabmo.org This is the same place that I gathered my fabrics from in the past. However, this time I entered the rooms of tiles and wallpaper. These rooms I had usually avoided in the past. All things considered, I liked to find small 1/4″ tiles as well as painterly wall paper. I couldn’t wait to use them.
However,I didn’t have anything in mind. Above all,I just liked the materials. Subsequently, I found some 9″ x ” wooden boxes. They were stylish shades of cream and grey. I also found some planks or pieces of wood. I used one in the video of assemblage work in progress.
Since it was the middle of the pandemic, I chose materials that I had around the house. Subsequently some small spools of thread began part of several pieces. I had inherited duplicate sewing items from my mother and mother-in-law. In short I used those items as well. Above all, these small items challenged my mind to create something of beauty or interest.

You may want to read more about my assemblage pieces. I like to create small three dimensional works of art from redirected materials. Wallpaper, tiles and found objects will often find their way into my art. Whimiscal and surprising yet often minimalist and abstract. Many artists choose to create their works of assemblage using a particular theme. While I have made some pieces utilizing sewing objects like threads the theme is often very loose.
