Color! Texture! Movement!
Most importantly, color and texture motivate me to create an abstract pieced art quilts. For example, I couch (zigzag) decorative threads and cut them up to use as fabric. In addition, artist made details and decorative threads adds texture and creates movement. In the samevein, inspiration comes from seeing the fabrics play with one another. Similarly, my materials are redirected from the San Francisco Design Center away from the landfill. Above all,my favorite techniques to create movement in my pieces include curved line piecing and Scribble Quilting. likewise,I like the color of the quilting threads to reflect or contrast with the fabric creating another level of movement on the surface. All in all, a person recently commented on one of my pieces saying, “It dances.” Ultimately, just the mark I had been aiming for.
In addition, many of my abstract pieces are available on my Etsy site.
